RGIA is owned and operated by GMR GHIAL, a public-private partnership. GHIAL is made up of GMR Group (74%), 13the Airports Authority of India (13%), and the Government of Telangana (13%).
Initially, GMR Group partnered with Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, which held an 11% stake, while GMR held 63%. GHIAL has been given the right to operate the airport for the last 30 years, with an option to extend for another 30 years. In May 2022, the Central Government extended this agreement until March 22, 2068.
In October 2023, GMR Group announced it would buy the 11% stake held by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. The acquisition was completed in January 2024, making GMR Group the sole private owner with a 74% stake.
